Aphra, Body Positivity and Waves. My Latest Comic Reads

Lately, I have been trying to be more conscious as a consumer. I found a black-owned bookstore based in Virginia called Books and Crannies. I ordered a few graphic novels online through their website, and they shipped to me relatively fast, considering the current environment. I’m reading comics faster than I can type these reviews, so I wanted to combine three of my most recent comic reads in one post.

Doctor Aphra Issue #1 Written by Alyssa Wong, Art by Marika Cresa, and color by Rachelle Rosenberg.

Image is a comic book cover for Doctor Aphra Issue #1. It shows a woman on the cover. She's wearing a white t-shirt, red vest, and a hat with what looks like ski goggles on her head. There are several other characters surrounding her.
Doctor Aphra Issue #1. Photo taken by me.

Doctor Aphra is a character in the Star Wars universe introduced through comics. Doctor Aphra is a morally ambiguous character who served as the chief archeologist for Darth Vader. Throughout various comic runs, she’s either working for Vader or on the run from him.

In this first issue, Doctor Aphra is hunting for artifacts on Hoth. She’s attacked by the Empire and forced to flee with her new team back to Shadow University in the Outer Rim. As Aphra is drinking at a bar, she’s approached by Detta Yao, a graduate student at the University. Yao tells her about the Rings of Vaale, which grant the wearer eternal life and fortune. Aphra joins the quest for these rare items, and chaos ensues.

For the first issue, this comic blew me away. Doctor Aphra is an intriguing character as she’s not necessarily good, but she’s not completely evil either. Her team consists of Lucky (her sniper), Black Krrsantan (a Wookie with a facial scar), Detta, Doctor Eustacia Okka (another archeologist), and robot TA418. Each character has their own personality and unique skill set.

I rated this comic five stars on Goodreads, and I aim to continue the series.

Eat And Love Yourself by Sweeney Boo

Major Content Warning: Eating Disorders.
Image is a photo of a graphic novel titled Eat and Love Yourself by Sweeney Boo. It shows a woman with glasses looking off to the side.
Eat and Love Yourself. Photo taken by me.

Eat and Love Yourself is a beautifully written and illustrated story about a young woman named Mindy. She works as a barista and is dragged to go out by her best friend, Shae. After a late-night out, Mindy picks up a chocolate bar titled “Eat and Love Yourself”. As Mindy eats the chocolate, she’s transported back in time to see her past lived experiences. It shows where her body insecurities came from and how they play out today.

As stated, there’s a content warning for reading this graphic novel. This discusses in detail Mindy’s eating disorder. The graphic novel ends in an uplifting way, but proceed with caution before reading this.

Eat and Love Yourself is my favorite graphic novel I have read in 2020. I related to Mindy with her internal struggles. She’s somewhat introverted, and she loves cats. As a side note, her kitty, Jabba, is the cutest comic kitty. The artwork is captivating as it changes depending on what Mindy is experiencing. I rated Eat and Love Yourself five stars on Goodreads.

Waves by Ingrid Chabbert and Carole Maurel

Major Content Warning: Miscarriage.
Image shows a woman on a boat staring in front of her. There are a sea of books underneath her boat.
Waves. Photo taken by me.

Waves is a graphic novel focusing on Chabbert’s story about starting a family. This graphic novel follows a young lesbian couple as they try to get pregnant. As mentioned by the content warning, things do not go as planned, as they have a miscarriage. It shows how she copes with the loss by writing about her experience.

Waves is a graphic novel I want to re-read in a couple of years. My fiance and I discussed having kids in the future, but we aren’t ready yet. There can be a lot of shame associated with miscarriages, and the more miscarriage is discussed, we can take away the shame that’s associated.

I rated Waves five stars on Goodreads. Similar to Eat and Love Yourself, I was bawling my eyes out as it’s sad because she suffered a miscarriage, but also how she was able to use her experience to heal herself.

My comics are piling up on my nightstand, so there will be more comic reviews in the future. When ordering books or graphic novels, I highly recommend ordering from a smaller business. If you need a black-owned business to support, check out Books and Crannies. I cannot recommend them enough.

Nancy Drew & My Latest Steam Purchase

One of the most entertaining streamers I subscribe to is Meg Turney. Meg streams on Twitch but uploads her streams to YouTube. Meg has been streaming Dead by Daylight along with the Nancy Drew games by Her Interactive. These streams inspired me to purchase one of the Nancy Drew games on Steam, along with a couple of other games as well.

Nancy Drew: Ghost of Thornton Hall

Image is a screenshot from Steam. It shows the game, Nancy Drew Ghost of Thornton Hall. The logo of the game is an all black shaded woman glowing in yellow. Behind her, it shows an expensive mansion off to the right and a ghostly woman on the left wearing a red dress. The ghost is walking through a graveyard.
Image screenshotted by me in Steam.

I remember playing some of the Nancy Drew games when I was younger. In this game, Nancy is summoned to Thornton Hall to investigate the disappearance of Jessalyn. As Nancy explores the house, she needs to find Jessalyn while escaping the ghost who’s following her.

This game is scary. There were a couple of jump scares, and the music is incredibly eerie. The house itself is booby-trapped, and I accidentally killed Nancy a couple of times. I’m still in awe of how I played this as a kid because this game is scary as an adult.

I’m having a blast playing through this game, and intend on purchasing other Nancy Drew games on Steam.

Hidden Through Time

Image is a photo for a game called Hidden Through Time. In the I in Time, it's a magnifying glass. Behind the logo is a forest with cartoon trees in different colors including green and a burnt orange.
Image screenshotted by me in Steam.

Hidden Through Time is a hide and seek game with objects being hidden across different levels. Any review I have read regarding this game has been positive. This sounds like a game I would play after work during the week to relieve stress.

After playing through Nancy Drew, I plan on playing through this game.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy

Image screenshotted by me in Steam.

I have always wanted to play a Phoenix Wright game. This game was released on DS back in the early 2000s, but I didn’t get my 3DS until 2013. This game features a defense attorney named Phoenix Wright who tries to free his clients. I didn’t want to look up any other spoilers before playing the game myself, but the premise of the game is intriguing.

That’s the end of my Steam haul. There are quite a few games on my wishlist still, but overall, I’m happy with my latest purchase. Purchasing games on Steam allows me a break from the console games I play on weekends. I’m always in need of game recommendations from Steam. Feel free to leave suggestions in the comments section below.

TBR Tag

Now and then, it’s nice to do a blog tag. It’s an effortless way to write an interesting post. I found this TBR Tag by A Geek Girl’s Guide and thought it would be an easy way to share what I’m currently reading. Without further ado, here are my answers:

What Are You Currently Reading?

I’m currently reading The Force Awakens Novelization by Alan Dean Foster. It’s been a slower read because the adaptation doesn’t provide any new information about the movie. It’s been predictable, and it’s been tough to get myself to finish it, but I will eventually.

What Book Do You Plan on Reading Next?

I have The Alphabet Squadron by Alexander Freed. This is another Star Wars book. It depends on whether I need a break from Star Wars novelizations, but if not, I will read this one next.

Top Three Books on Your TBR?

  1. It by Stephen King
  2. The Dark Tower by Stephen King
  3. The Night Manager by John Le Carre.

These three books have been on my TBR for a long time. The fiancé bought It when the first movie was released, but he hasn’t read it yet. The Dark Tower was a book I bought when the movie adaptation was released, but I haven’t been in the mood to read it. The Night Manager I purchased at an older bookstore in Boston. I watched the Amazon Prime limited series based on the book starring Tom Hiddleston, and it was so good, so I purchased the book.

I hope to get through all three of these books this year. Otherwise, I may donate The Dark Tower if I decide not to read it by the end of this year.

An Intimidating Book on Your TBR?

I would say It is intimidating because it’s over 1,000 pages! I’m saving the book for fall because I want a horror book to read. My favorite Stephen King book is Carrie, although I recommend reading the Bill Hodges trilogy too. In high school, I read The Green Mile, and that was pretty good, but not my favorite.

A Short Book on Your TBR?

All the books on my TBR aren’t short, so I don’t think I can answer this one. However, I do have a few graphic novels on my TBR. I typically separate my book TBR from my graphic novel TBR. My books sit in the office, while my graphic novels are piled on my nightstand in my bedroom.

If manga counts, I have Ghost in the Shell volume #2 along with Berserk Vol. #1.

The Book That Has Been on Your TBR the Longest?

Game of Thrones has been on my TBR since 2013. I tried reading it during my freshman year of college, but I kept putting it down for long periods. I tried to pick the book up again, but I would forget what happened to all the characters. I’m thinking of reading Game of Thrones in January of next year. It’s fitting because of the Minnesota winter.

The Most Reason Addition to your TBR?

I haven’t purchased any books recently because I have been trying to decrease my TBR. I’m proud of myself because usually, I buy a bunch of books, and my TBR is out of control. Thinking back, my most recent purchase was Alphabet Squadron, as I received that book this year at C2E2 in Chicago, right before the pandemic.

I linked to A Geek Girl’s Guide in my first paragraph, so feel free to check out the TBR tag there. Otherwise, here are the questions for this tag:

Iden Versio & The Infernal Squad: Battlefront II

I tend to avoid online multiplayer games. The hatred coming from online players is enough for me to stay clear. However, I made an exception for Star Wars Battlefront II. The fiancé received Star Wars Battlefront II as a gift for his birthday, and as I watched him play, I realized this game might be something I would like. A month has passed, and I’m already at level #28. Between online multiplayer matches, I was also playing through the Star Wars Battlefront campaign, which stars Iden Versio & her Infernal squad. I’m pleasantly surprised to say the campaign rocked.

Star Wars Battlefront II takes place immediately after Return of the Jedi and before The Force Awakens. The campaign follows Iden Versio, a commander of the Inferno Squad, an Imperial Special Forces unit. Iden’s team goes through several missions together which contorts Iden’s views of the Empire. There’s not much else I can say without spoilers, but the campaign does allow you to play as major characters in the Star Wars universe.

I went into this campaign with low expectations. Usually, multiplayer games including a story mode are mediocre. The major highlight of this game was Iden Versio. I thought she was an excellent main character as she’s smart, sophisticated, and has a grey moral compass. She has to contemplate her relationship to the Empire after major decisions are made. She isn’t a villain, but I wouldn’t call her a hero either. Her comrade, Del, is another character featured in the story. The professional relationship between Iden and Del develops over the course of the campaign.

The missions were pretty short but fulfilling. At first, I hated the flying missions, but after a while, I found I was enjoying flying in Iden’s TIE fighter. Some of the missions felt nostalgic as they returned to familiar planets with our favorite characters. The voice acting for Luke, Lando, and Leia was decent. The only character I felt was slightly off was Anakin. His voice doesn’t even sound like Hayden Christiansen.

My one minor complaint with Battlefront II is the dismissal of the prequels. Padme isn’t a playable character, which is mildly annoying. Padme could have easily been included with several outfits and her blaster. I could see her having special abilities, including boosting her teammates with health bonuses. In defense of Battlefront II, the game was meant to promote the new Star Wars movies being released by Disney, so the prequels weren’t something that had to be addressed.

Battlefront II is one of the games I will remember as a game that got me through COVID-19. Any Star Wars fan will be thrilled at flying a TIE-fighter or entering into battle with Obi-Wan. Battlefront II can be played on Xbox One, PS4, or Windows.

Lucifer Cold Heaven Plus Lucifer Show News

I started watching Lucifer last summer when it was moved to Netflix. I didn’t know what to expect when I started the pilot episode, but I was blown away by the show. It appealed to my love of Law & Order SVU, only this time, the king of hell plays a major role. There’s been some recent Lucifer TV show news, and I read Lucifer Cold Heaven #1, so I figured, why not make an all-encompassing Lucifer post

Image is a photo of the comic book cover for Lucifer Cold Heaven. It shows a man glowing and he is wearing a gray suit with a red shirt and black tie. He has white angel wings. It shows him landing on a Hollywood star that has God in the middle of the yellow star. There are blood stains on the star.

Let’s start with Lucifer Cold Heaven. As many Lucifer fans can attest, I started the show before reading Neil Gaiman’s run with the character. Lucifer’s Cold Heaven isn’t the first issue by Neil Gaiman, instead it’s written by Holly Black, art by Lee Garbett, colorist Antonio Fabela, letterer Todd Klein, and features other creative minds including Stephanie Hans, Dave Johnson, and Christopher Moeller. In this first volume, Lucifer is mysteriously injured and it’s announced God is found dead. Lucifer heads on a quest with Gabriel to clear his name as he didn’t kill God.

Image shows pages within Lucifer Cold World. On the right, it shows Lucifer holding a martini glass. In the glass is a red liquid with a menacing eyes looking through.

I rated this three stars on Goodreads. I adore the show which meant I had big expectations for the graphic novel series. This story took place mostly in Hell, but I wish the backdrop had been LA. I thought the story was mediocre, but the artwork was what sold this novel. My favorite cover features Lucifer drinking a cocktail with a red eye in his drink. Mazikeen’s character design is intriguing as she wears a theater mask with half of it cut off. I prefer Maze in the show; she’s played wonderfully by Lesley-Ann Brandt. Overall this wasn’t bad, but I’m not in an urgent rush to continue in the series.

Moving on to Lucifer show news, season #5 has an official release date of Friday, August 21st. There will be sixteen episodes for season #5, with eight episodes dropping in August, while the other eight will drop at a later date. This will be tough because I will probably watch all eight within a day or two.

Lucifer was renewed for season #6. Netflix tweeted “666” animation announcing Lucifer returning for season #6. How could you not do a season #6 especially because 666 is the devil’s number. The show has a huge following, and it was the fans who helped sway Netflix to renew the show. After season #6, I would be satisfied if the show concludes. However, fans have been wanting a John Constantine crossover with Lucifer, which I wouldn’t be opposed to.

I could talk about Lucifer all day; however, I have to end this post at some point. Let me know in the comments section if, like me, you will devote yourself entirely to Lucifer when the episodes air on Friday, August 21st.

The Normal Heart (2014)

Image is a poster for the movie, The Normal Heart. It's a black and white poster with Mark Ruffalo on the front. In Red it states, "To Win a War You have to Start One".

As Pride is coming to a close this year, it’s crucial to support the LGBTQIA+ community all year long. This includes supporting organizations like the Trevor Project or watching media that’s been created by someone from the community. I recently watched the movie, The Normal Heart, and it’s heartwrenching. With the COVID-19 pandemic, The Normal Heart revisits a time when the US didn’t do enough to manage another pandemic.

The Normal Heart is based on a play written by Larry Kramer. The play follows activist, Ned Weeks (played by Mark Ruffalo in the movie), who notices this mysterious disease mostly impacting gay men. As he starts to discuss this disease at length, he’s surprised how he cannot get anyone to listen to him. This is during a prejudiced time where many felt this was “god’s punishment.” Ned falls in love with Felix Turner (played by Matt Bomer), although tragedy strikes when Felix is diagnosed with HIV. The play and the subsequent movie version highlight how the US failed its people by refusing to provide research sooner.

This movie is difficult to watch. It’s graphic in the way it needs to be to show how HIV has taken young, healthy men and turned them into frail human beings. There’s one man as he lies dying, calling out for his dog. I was crying throughout the entire movie because it hurt to know this is real. It’s amazing how far we have come in treating HIV and how many people can live completely normal lives. At the core of this story is the discrimination gay men faced in getting basic care.

For those who feel the US isn’t handling COVID-19 correctly, it seems we can only look to our past for our failures. It wasn’t until 1986 that Ronald Reagan mentioned AIDS while addressing the United States. This is stated in the epilogue of The Normal Heart. This is when discrimination becomes deadly.

The Normal Heart was a well-made movie honoring the brave people who passed away from this awful disease. It’s a movie that shows how media can influence public opinion and how our media can highlight issues before even our government can address them. I would recommend being in a good mental place before watching this because of the difficult nature of the movie. This movie is one of the reasons why Pride still needs to exist, so we never forget how our country failed its community.

My Favorite New Girl Episodes

It’s been six months, but I finally finished watching New Girl. I always start watching a new show, although I become bored and end up watching something else. I would go through phases with New Girl where I would watch a season in a week and then not watch the show for months. Since I finished New Girl in its entirety, I wanted to list off my favorite episodes of the show.

“Prince” Season #3 Episode 14

As a Minnesotan, it should come as no surprise to anyone that the Prince episode made it to this list. Jess (played by Zooey Deschanel) and Cece (played by Hannah Simone) are invited to a party held by Prince. Nick (played by Jake Johnson), Schmidt (played by Max Greenfield), Winston (played by Lamorne Morris), and Coach (played by Damon Wayans Jr.) all come to crash Prince’s party after Nick blurts out to Jess that he loves her. This episode is so fun. Prince gives the roommates great advice, and I like the episodes in season #3 where Nick and Jess are together. I got a little teary-eyed watching this, especially since Prince is no longer alive. R.I.P. Prince.

“Cooler” Season #2 Episode 15

This episode marks the first kiss between Jess and Nick. This kiss is one of the best on-screen kisses I have ever watched. I was re-watching this scene from various YouTube clips, and it sent chills up my spine. Jess and Nick are perfect together.

“Where the Road Goes” Season #7 Episode #4

As a cat lady, this episode has to be on this list. Winston hosts a funeral for his cat, Ferguson, who passed away from a heart attack. I was crying throughout the whole thing as someone who has lost two kitties in my lifetime. Losing a pet is never easy, and towards the end of the episode, we see Winston express his emotion over his lost furry friend. This episode is relatable.

“Normal” Season #1 Episode 20

I picked this episode because it’s the first episode to feature the drinking game True American. Jess invites her boyfriend, Russell (played by Dermot Mulroney), over to the loft where the roommates play a drinking game. True American is depicted throughout the series as one of the games the roommates play together. All I know about the game is that the “floor is lava” and to start a game by shouting “JFK” and “FDR”.

“Hubbedy Bubby” Season #6 Episode 2

In this episode, Jess and Cece make a bet with Schmidt about signing up voters for the upcoming election. Jess and Cece party at a sorority house to attempt to get them to register to vote. As Jess and Cece triumphantly lead the women to vote, they unanimously shout their support for Trump. I picked this episode because it highlights Jess and Cece’s friendship as they go on this quest together.

Honorable mentions include the pilot episode, Schmidt and Cece’s wedding, and Nick and Jess’s wedding. Let me know in the comments which episode is your favorite.

Kalamax, the Ultimate Dinosaur

Last month, I spent $250 on Magic: The Gathering cards. I’m sure some of you are thinking, “How could she spend that much money on cardboard?” Magic: The Gathering is the only deck-building game I’m currently playing, and I wanted new cards from the Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths set. Plus, I spent this money at my local game store, and during a time like this, we need to support local businesses. In my Magic: The Gathering haul, I bought three commander decks. I was able to play Kalamax, the Stormsire, who is the ultimate dinosaur.

Image is a selfie of me holding a Magic card. I'm wearing a black and orange shawl with my Agents of Shield tank top. My hair is a blonde mixed with brown. The card is "Kalamax, the Stormshire". It's a gray and blue dinosaur with lightning coming from its spine.

Before I begin this discussion, there’s one point I need to make. Wizards of the Coast has been under fire recently for racism and mistreatment of their African American employees and players. Wizards of the Coast needs to hire more POC writers and illustrators to alleviate this situation. By buying the Ikoria set, I provided profit to my local game store along with Wizards. Since this is the case, I will link at the end of my post a couple of charities to donate to because Black Lives Matter.

Kalamax, the Stormsire, is the commander in this Ikoria commander deck. Kalamax has a converted mana cost of four for a 4/4 elemental dinosaur. Kalamax aims to attack other players, as this activates the special ability. If Kalamax is tapped, whenever an instant or sorcery spell is played, the spell is copied. Whenever a spell is copied, Kalamax receives a +1/+1 counter. Kalamax’s main goal is to copy spells I play, which in turn makes Kalamax more powerful.

When I first played this deck, it was unorganized. I had to spend time planning out my turns to make sure I played my spells in the correct order. After a few turns, I was able to catch on to how I needed to play Kalamax to make this card the most effective. I played with a friend of mine and I almost lost to her cat deck. Somehow, I managed to defeat her after killing her cats and boosting Kalamax. I ended up swinging at my opponent with Kalamax being at 25/25. There’s a land in the deck that allows me to give Kalamax trample. Trample means even if Kalamax is blocked by creatures, Kalamax can still “trample” over the creatures and hit that player’s life total.

Kalamax is a blast to play. The deck is already built, and it runs well, which means I didn’t need to purchase any other cards to play it right away. This deck is ideal for any players who play instant or sorcery cards. If you’re a beginner to Magic, this deck may be challenging to play at first, but after a couple of practice games, you will be able to thrash through your opponents to win the game. Kalamax, the Stormsire, can be purchased online or at any local game store. It’s retailing at $41.99 if you purchase the deck at Target. Prices may vary depending on where the deck is purchased.

As I discussed, here’s the link to ways to help the Black Lives Matter movement. If you’re not able to financially give, there are other ways to help. This includes voting, signing petitions, protesting, and other resources to be an ally in this movement.

Body Positive Power by Megan Jayne Crabbe

Image is a book cover for Body Positive Power Because Life is Already Happening and You Don't Need Flat Abs to Live it by Megan Jayne Crabbe. It shows a woman smiling. She has pink, purple and blue hair and pink lipstick on. She's looking off to the side.

I follow bodyposipanda on Instagram when I need positivity during this time of uncertainty. Bodyposipanda is run by Megan Jayne Crabbe, an eating disorder survivor who has quit dieting and is trying to promote positivity around how our bodies look. I find her Instagram page to be inspiring. Our bodies are ridiculed for not looking a certain way, and Megan has battled this persona. Megan wrote a book titled Body Positive Power: Because Life is Already Happening and You Don’t Need Flat Abs to Live it. I purchased this book toward the beginning of Quarantine, and it made me feel better about myself and improved the relationship I have with my body.

“I’m sure we all know someone who eats junk food, never exercises, and stays thin no matter what. Yet we refuse to believe the opposite could be true, that you can be fat, eat well, exercise, and stay fat.” – Megan Jayne Crabbe.

In this book, Megan shares everything she knows about the weight loss industry, our bodies, and her journey to overcoming her eating disorder. Megan details her experience spending time in a facility for her eating disorder. Reading this section was difficult, but an important part of Megan’s story. This book targets Anorexia specifically because of Megan’s personal experience, but she does touch on binge-eating disorders too.

One of the most interesting sections of the book was when Megan breaks down the ingredients in diet teas and diet pills. I knew the Kardashians were promoting their stomach tea, but I didn’t know what the tea consisted of. Two ingredients in diet teas include: Senna and Chinese Rhubarb root. Both of these ingredients promote the emptying of the bowels. Another interesting topic was the discussion on diet pills such as dinitrophenol (found in herbicides), various amphetamines, and even Fen-Phen, which led to heart valve damage. It’s sad how our society is more concerned with people losing weight than with doing it safely.

After finishing this book, I felt slightly irritated. I spent so much time hating my body when I could have been living my life. I will always have insecurity with how my body looks, but I want to be nicer to myself. I don’t want to force myself to give up the food I like, but instead focus on portions. I’m not going to journal my food, as that’s where it becomes too much of an obsession for me. Megan’s book confirmed for me that my flaws are what make me unique and normal. My cellulite, fat surrounding my stomach, and even my acne are normal for a human body to have.

I would consider myself somewhat active in the body positivity movement. Body shaming is insensitive and disgusting. If you’re struggling and need a pick-me-up, this book is worth it. Megan is making this world a better place.

Saving Halloween in Costume Quest 2

During Quarantine, I signed up for Xbox Game Pass. Xbox Game Pass has over 100 console and PC games to play. Besides more popular games, there are quite a few indie titles here as well. I recently downloaded What Remains of Edith Finch, but I also finished playing Costume Quest 2. Costume Quest 2 is one of my favorite games I played in 2020 because it appeals to my joy towards Halloween.

Twins Wren and Reynold are getting ready to trick or treat on Halloween night. Suddenly, dentist Dr. Orel White teams up with a time wizard to go back in time while also unleashing orc-like creatures on their town. Dr. White, being a dentist, wants to get rid of Halloween forever. This can’t happen because Halloween is the best holiday that’s not a holiday. Wren and Reynold jump around in time to stop the dentist and bring Halloween back.

One of my favorite parts of the game is the battles. As you encounter the Orcs, you enter into battle with your Halloween costumes. Each Halloween costume has a different ability. My personal favorites were the dinosaur, the pharaoh, and the wizard. The battles themselves remind me of Pokémon battles as you take turns using your attack move until you build enough to use your special move. There are also attack cards that provide additional bonuses in the game. I forgot to use them when I had them, but they did help me win my battles.

I’m an achievement hunter by trade, and I liked that most of the achievements were fairly easy to unlock. I’m only missing one, but it’s a difficult achievement, so I intend on going back in the game and playing it on a harder difficulty setting.

I cannot recommend Costume Quest 2 enough. If you love Halloween as much as I do, this game has to be on your gameplay list. I love this game so much that I would buy this game on Steam to play it again. Steam has the first Costume Quest game, where Xbox Game Pass does not. If I play both games, I will buy the Steam bundle, where you can buy both for only $20. This is a game that I’d replay again in the future, especially near Halloween.
