It’s been two weeks since my last blog post, but I’m back! Two weeks ago, I attended a tabletop gaming convention and then a couple days later, I flew out to Orlando on vacation to see Universal Studios along with Islands of Adventure. It was refreshing to escape the harsh Minnesota winter.
This trip has been a long time coming. When my mom retired after 38 years at the same company (longer than I have been alive), they gave her a $500 Universal gift card to spend at Orlando and at Universal Studios. It was a very generous gift which my mom took full advantage of after buying two wands, a couple t-shirts, and a Deathly Hallows bracelet. While I didn’t buy as much merch as my mom, I bought a few things to help commemorate the trip.
We walked everywhere! I liked The Simpson’s side of the park and I did end up trying a Duff beer. It was pretty good! The Simpson’s ride was a little too bumpy for me and I was glad the ride was over otherwise I probably would have puked. The Revenge of the Mummy ride was another favorite of mine along with the rides on Marvel Island in Islands of Adventure.
This vacation has been one to remember. It gave me enough of a break from work and I’m excited to get back to a routine again.
Before I conclude this blog post, I wanted to share what’s to come on Bizarre Brunette. Next month, I’ll be attending C2E2 and it will be my first time attending this convention in Chicago. I’m going to write a convention recap of the tabletop convention I attended before this trip. Sitting in my queue are eight different blog posts waiting to be written, but I’m up for the challenge.

It was so worth it to see it in real life. Not only was the weather fabulous, but we went in the “off season” before spring break and summer so it wasn’t packed at all. It was a vacation to remember.

Looks like you had an amazing time. I cant wait to plan another trip to Universal – it’s been almost 10 years since I was last there. The Harry Potter section looks insane.

Have you been to the one in California? Are they similar?

They are a little. In California they blend Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley together. So there are a couple shared shops. And Cali also has Forbidden Journey in the castle and Flight of the Hippogriff. Florida’s has a lot more though.

It’s happening at both Cali and Florida. In Disneyland it’s opening this summer versus in Hollywood Studios at WDW it won’t be open till winter.

I’m glad you had fun! Being there is about as close as we’ll ever get to Hogwarts, eh? I went to HP world a few years after it opened, but I really want to go back, especially since they’ve added stuff.

I went to Universal about 4 years ago and loved it! I almost held up the line in Hogwarts cause I was just holding onto the walls like sobbing cause I was so excited to be there, haha. Sounds like you got some awesome stuff, I also got Luna’s wand cause she’s my favorite :]

Luna reminds me of me because she’s quirky, but 100% herself. My mom bought Hermione & Professor McGonnagal and my brother bought a couple generic death eater wands.
