My bookshelf has been slowly getting smaller thanks to my review of Firefight. Firefight was just as good as the original book, Steelheart, thank goodness because I really loved this book. It was one of my favorite books I read last year. I’m not going to post a review on this blog, but I did write one on Twin Cities Geek so here’s the link if you want to read it. Firefight Review If you’re a fan of superhero content like myself, Steelheart and Firefight will satisfy your needs.
Anyway, I decided to go through my to-read shelf on good reads and show you some books that I can’t wait to get my hands on! I may have to do a trip to Barnes & Noble in La Crosse or hunt around local Winona bookstores sometime soon.
Insanity (Mad In Wonderland) by Cameron Jace
This is a modern take on the Alice in Wonderland story starring Alice Wonder who is currently locked away in an asylum. Criminals are reincarnated monsters from Wonderland. A college professor believes that Alice is the key to putting these criminals away so by day she’s a college student while spending her nights at the asylum. This book has a gothic element to it and it’s definitely my kind of book.
Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll
I saw a coworker reading this at work and she raved about this book. This book is a little more chick flick than what I normally read. However, she said the book was twisted and shocking. I’ll have to see what I think after I read it.
Fallout: Lois Lane by Gwenda Bond
A young adult novel themed around Lois Lane is something I’m looking forward to. Again my love of superheroes are showing, but I think this is a unique idea. Lois Lane is an intelligent character that is a compliment to Superman. Also the cover is pretty well designed. I like the contrast of the newspaper with the bright red and blue for Superman
Crystal Cadets by Anne Toole, Adam Staffaroni (Editor) Kate O’Neill (Illustrator)
Zoe is the shy girl in the middle who finds this gem from her mother. Now dragons appear and are chasing her friends around the playground. I’m looking forward to the all women main characters in this graphic novel. Also there seems to be a lot of representation with the characters which makes them unique. This seems like this would be a fun series that I can’t wait to start… eventually.
Let me know what’s in your to-read pile, I always love suggestions! 🙂
Also I’m reading Wicked Will Rise by Danielle Paige and I’m almost done so another book review will be coming.
That Alice book is a knock off of American McGee’s Alice. It’s a video game about Alice, who is using Wonderland as an escape from the asylum she is in. The bad guys are from criminals and doctors she meets.

Where is this video game? That sounds awesome thanks for correcting me? Is it on a console or a PC? I haven’t heard of it before but now I feel like I need to play it ASAP
