Board Game Bucket List

I used to believe that gaming meant only using a console, handheld, or using a PC. This summer, when I stayed in Winona, I discovered a cute little gaming store called River Quest.

**Edit: 12/10/2017 I found out River Quest was closing!  Sad Day 😦 **

My roommate got a job working there, so I was in the store at least once a week or every other week. I got to know the owner, who is one of the coolest guys in the Winona area. I was opened up to a world of a different type of gaming.

I’m creating a Bucket List of Board Games that I haven’t played yet, but I intend to. I will sticky this to the front page of the Gaming Section and I plan to update it as I play new games. Also, I hope to post a review on some of these board games especially the ones with the strikeout through the name. In the meantime, enjoy my bucket list! Also, feel free to comment with various board games that I can add to the list.

Here is my Board Game Bucket List:

  1. Exploding Kittens Card Game

  1. I think I played Munchkin once! It was hard to pick up because I’m horrible at card games, but it was cute and fun! I found this really cool board game cafe/bar in Toronto where you can just sit and play games as long as you like. I got to play so many cool and weird games there! (And some old faves, like Rock Em Sock Em Robots.) With my friends we usually play the Resident Evil card game. Slow to start but gets really fun once everyone’s bought their goodies and starts fighting monsters!

  2. Munchkin is SO MUCH FUN! I hope you play it soon, it’s a really great experience. It used to be a nightly game in my family but we haven’t busted it out in a while…might have to remedy that this weekend:P I’ve never heard of Exploding Kittens but it sounds like something I have to check out!

  3. I love board games. Not sure what type of games you like to play overall, but here are some I’d suggest with various play styles:
    Stone Age (best with 4)
Agricola (best with 3 or more)
Betrayal at House on the Hill
    Seasons
Ticket to Ride (this one’s pretty quick to pick up on) The Nordic version is great for 2-3 players
Settlers of Catan is kind of a classic at this point
    Takenoko
    Code Names

    ….that’s probably enough, eh? Lol

  4. I love Munchkin so much! My husband has one friend that he’s still skeptical of playing it with to this day (it’s been like two years since he was scarred for life!) I’ve always wanted to try Ticket to Ride and Arkham / Eldrich Horror! I definitely recommend Betrayal at House on the Hill and to play it multiple times because it’s always different! One of the scenarios we had made for the most fun I’ve ever had playing a board game to date but I won’t spoil what it was! Also, Pandemic! UGH I have such a love / hate relationship with that game! I mostly love it but it’s SO stressful! Have you played Settlers of Catan? It’s such a classic but I never get bored of it!

    • Settlers of Catan is so good! My friend is kind of a jerk to me in that game though because I’m always needing one resource that she’s blocked me out of! Arkham Horror is one of my favorites but it takes a long time to complete so if you have 3 hours lying about than I would definitely recommend it! 🙂

  5. Betrayal at House on the Hill is so much fun when you get the hang of it (I say it like that because it took my friends and I a few times before we REALLY figured out how to play lol). I also love Munchkin but everyone else already said that hahah. A game on my to-play list is the new Oregon Trail card game!

  6. Munchkin! My fiance is more of a card and board gamer than me so most things I’ve played via him, but Munchkin is so much fun. The different versions are great and there’s even one to add them all together which is just totally off the wall bonkers.
